Zahra Shafie  Back to Artists

She is Born in 1986, lives and works in Tehran, Iran. Evokes the impression of the human surroundings that can facilitate or discourage social interactions. She explores the hierarchical structure of identity and the role of power structures on this matter.

By showing parts of the human body in detail, she aims to convey concepts through gestures, posture, and body symbolism. In her current practice, nudity is in synthesis with leaves, thorns, flowers, and deep green perspectives. She combined the human body with its intuitive nature as a symbolic subject matter to address modern humanity's use and emotions and dilemmas.

As an Iranian visual artist, painting nudes require considerable courage that she unfolds continuously within her practice.
